What GDV Is, What It Measures and What It Does Not

In Summary

Bio-Well is a camera that records an image of the bioelectric field around the fingertips through a technique called Gas Discharge Visualisation (GDV). It produces a map of how the body is functioning at that moment — not a medical diagnosis.

What It Is

Bio-Well is a device developed by the Russian biophysicist Konstantin Korotkov, professor at the ITMO University in Saint Petersburg. It combines a specialised camera and analysis software. The technique is called Gas Discharge Visualisation (GDV).

It is non-invasive. You rest a fingertip on the sensor for an instant; a very faint electrical pulse (less than a millisecond) prompts the skin to emit a soft halo of photons. That light is captured as an image and the software analyses it.

What It Measures

  • Map of the bioelectric field — intensity and symmetry of the emission.
  • Stress index — a scale from 0 to 10 on the state of the autonomic nervous system.
  • Energy balance by systems — which functional areas appear active, over-active or depleted.
  • Main centres report — the seven traditional chakras, read as energy points.

What you get is a functional snapshot of the moment — a picture of how the person is on the day and at the hour of the scan. It does not measure individual organs, it does not detect illness and it does not replace clinical tests.

What It Does NOT Measure

Bio-Well does not diagnose illness. It does not identify specific pathologies. It does not replace an MRI, a blood test or any medical examination. If a reading suggests something, we will tell you so and encourage you to consult your doctor.

How It Is Interpreted

A single reading tells us less than two readings over time. That is why follow-up makes sense: comparing today's field with one from two months ago shows progress, improvement or decline.

At Artemisa the reading is always accompanied by conversation. Luana sits with you and talks you through what we see in plain language. If the stress index is high, we talk about what has been going on lately. If a system looks depleted, we connect it with your routines. The technology is only the starting point.

The State of the Evidence

There is a scientific literature on GDV published in indexed journals (some peer-reviewed, others with narrower reach). Konstantin Korotkov himself has published books and papers on the technique since the 1990s. Mainstream medicine tends to classify it as complementary, not as a diagnostic test. That is also our position.

When to Use It?

When you want a different look at the moment you are living. When something is not quite right and conventional tests do not say much. When you are looking after yourself and want a follow-up tool that goes beyond simply how you feel.

Important note: This article is educational. Bio-Well is not a diagnostic medical device. Its use at Artemisa is as a complementary wellbeing tool.
